Highlights of Summer 2009

Summer Camp at Maple Grove has been great! This year under the direction of a new Executive Director, Gary Landers, we have seen considerable improvements. In spite of some poor weather this year spirits were high and fellowship was great at all the camps and activities.  A good number of new people became lot lease holders and joined our camp family. Even more important were the number of decisions for Christ that were made and committments by many, young and old to seek the Lord more in times to come. This page will highlight in photos the events of the summer.

Family Camp 2009

Family Camp 2009 was filled to over flowing with around 500 in attendance on the grounds plus many who visited us throughout the week. Our speaker Ruth Huston brought a wealth of information and teaching for us to digest, while the kitchen staff headed up by Marjorie Barron fed us physically.  The Camp store (Kim & Dave Bennet, and their 6 wonderful kids) met the needs of the children's craving for sugar, while the Blythe Puppeteers  (Les and Jackie Cook) fed them spiritually with the Scripture Book Olympics. There were all kinds of sports and activities but also lots of time to just relax and enjoy. The swimming pool not only provided a place to cool down and have fun, but also was a great place to just meet others and fellowship together. It was a great camp and we look forward to next year.

Adventure Camp 2009

Adventure Camp under the Director Shawn B. was exciting for all. Tom Horne, who has been here for about 10 summers, returned again with his "Wacky Sports" and his famous "Duck Duck, Goose" evening games. Jan Smith taught Bible lessons each day, and a great group of good competent young people served as counsellors. Clck on the picture above to open a photo gallery of Adventure Camp.

Maple Grove provided a number of events including music concerts throughout the summer of 2009. We were pleased to have Eduard Klassen on the holiday weekend in May. Click on the picture to hear one of his hymns.

Discovery Camp 2009

Discovery Camp directed by Cathy Haggith provided our " rookie " campers an opportunity to discover the difference a life of following Jesus can make. Campers participated in games, crafts, swimming,  campfires as well as horse-back riding.

Teen Camp 2009 was exciting for everyone. There was a great spirit of fellowship and learning and all went home feeling it had been worth it to come. Our prayers are with this group of young people and we hope to see them all again in 2010.
